![]() I like the letter-themed episodes because of how many clever words the writers can work in for the day’s letter and this episode was chock full of them (Peter Piper: “I guess parachuting isn’t a very practical pursuit.”) I also liked the original song in the episode (despite it’s very short length) and appreciated seeing Forgetful Jones make a brief background cameo.Īndy Cohen and Elmo demonstrated the word “popular,” using some TV spoofs I’m sure the writers considered using for full bits, but couldn’t do much with (though Cluck Dynasty would have potential). I really enjoyed this street story, since it was one of the more developed and longer ones we’ve gotten. ![]() I’m glad they’re still making these (despite the unnecessary Chris narrations), though I’m wondering where all the Ernie and Bert skits are.ĮPISODE #4511 – PETER PIPER’S PURPOSE – Peter Piper gives up picking pickled peppers in lieu of a purpose with more pizzas. Also debuted was a new Two-Headed Monster sketch, where they learn how to catch a ball. Still a pretty good segment I love the Pegafish puppet. The next new Crumby Pictures came out–“Nosh of the Titans.” I haven’t seen the original film, but I don’t think that mattered much, since the only real reference was the “Kraken” one. I still appreciate them using a single, static take (much like the classic days) for some bits among the more dynamically shot ones, but it didn’t work much for me here. And one certain member of the band clearly didn’t know the words. The whole song is alright catchy still, but the lyrics and the melody didn’t seem to mesh very well. The preview sounded catchy, so I was looking forward to hearing the rest. The highly anticipated and heavily promoted One Direction bit–“What Makes U Useful”–debuted finally. The fairy tale confusion of “coach” was cute, especially with the punchline. In terms of celebrity appearances, basketballer Pau Gasol explained the word “coach” to Abby in a pretty neat bit. ![]() It’s wonderful to have Guy Smiley back and have a role in a story, even! I would say they should lighten up on the “self-regulation” storylines, since they’re all starting to seem similar, but I’ll take these over the health initiative in season 36. Here’s what you missed and what I thought of the new stuff.ĮPISODE #4510 – CALM DOWN AND THINK, ELMO – Elmo needs Alan’s help calming down to win Guy Smiley’s game show, “Calm Down and Think.” ![]() That’s in addition to the previously announced titles exiting HBO Max this month, including all eight of the original “Harry Potter” films.Shane Keating – Hey! Missed the last few Sesame Street season 45 episodes? No problem. That includes 20 original HBO Max shows, including teen drama “Generation,” animated anthology series “Infinity Train” and kids’ show “Summer Camp Island,” as well as several “Sesame Street” specials. The removal of the “Sesame Street” episodes comes after HBO Max on Wednesday said at least 36 more titles will be leaving the service this week. The streamer also will be premiering additional episodes of “Sesame Street Mecha Builders” later in 2022. Still available for now on HBO Max, in addition to remaining episodes of the “Sesame Street” series, are the 10-episode “Sesame Street Mecha Builders,” seven seasons of “My Sesame Street Friends” and “The Magical Wand Chase” special featuring Elmo and Abby. Their current agreement keeps new “Sesame Street” seasons first-run on HBO Max through 2025. HBO and Sesame Workshop first struck an agreement in 2015, providing a new revenue stream for “Sesame Street,” while granting HBO rights to run new episodes of the landmark series first before they appeared on its longtime home, PBS. Select “Sesame Street” episodes continue to be available on PBS Kids and the Sesame Street channel on YouTube. Sesame Workshop reps did not respond to requests for comment. “We are committed to continuing to bring ‘Sesame Street’ into families’ homes,” including with Season 53 premiering this fall and the 400-plus episodes of the most recent and past seasons that remain on Cartoonito on HBO Max. “‘Sesame Street’ is and has always been an important part of television culture and a crown jewel of our preschool offering,” an HBO Max spokesperson said in a statement to Variety.
